Steam Cloud Sync Overwrites Local Saves with Invalid/Empty Data and Resets Game Settings

Steam users often report "GAME" settings being set to invalid values (e.g., Show Body: High, Field of View: 0, Enable Crossplay: High, etc.). Updates to these settings only last until the next loading zone. Additionally, some users claim that game saves are reset back to level 0 or that the game loses all sound despite audio sliders being set to 100, which I believe to be a part of the same bug. Issues with the settings disappear after disabling Steam Cloud, and then manually deleting the GameSettings_SaveSlot.sav file.
